Burton 4 Medical Unit is a newly renovated unit! There are 17 private patient rooms with 2 nursing documentation stations, a multidisciplinary room, and a provider workroom. Each room is equipped with a computer, label printer, and call bell system connected to the updated patient bed connecting patient safety features to the system including the call bell. The ratio will be 5 patients per RN. For each shift, there will be a nursing unit secretary, 2 patient care techs, 3 RNs, and a charge RN. The charge nurse will have a 2-patient assignment to maintain the 5 to 1 ratio. The patient population will be general medicine patients. Typically, 75% of the population will have an underlying psychiatric illness.

The RN / Registered Nurse is responsible for independently planning, coordinating, and directing those activities essential to the provision of quality nursing care for assigned patients; coordinating the medical plan provided by support service departments relating to the assigned patients; identifying and implementing nursing interventions and evaluates results; and demonstrating developing leadership qualities.

Qualifications and Education:

  • RN license in Maryland or compact state
  • CPR (AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network)
  • AA degree in Nursing
  • BSN obtain within 4 years of hire
  • Previous experience as a patient care tech or student nurse tech is helpful
