Position Summary:
The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides high-quality respiratory care to patients from neonates to adolescents, performing both routine and complex procedures. Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure care meets the exceptional standards set by Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and regulatory agencies. Maintains current skills and knowledge to deliver safe, effective, and developmentally appropriate care, contributing to optimal patient outcomes.
Key Accountabilities:
- Assesses patient status, monitors progress, and helps determine appropriate plans of care
- Collaborates with the care team to ensure optimal clinical outcomes
- Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures safely and according to established guidelines
- Applies critical thinking and sound judgment in urgent and complex situations
- Accurately interprets and communicates patient data to support care decisions
- Documents treatments and patient responses in the electronic medical record clearly and compliantly
- Educates and communicates with patients, families, and the care team in a clear and respectful manner
- Functions effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment to support the highest standards of care
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s Degree
- Licensure: Current Florida Respiratory Therapist License
- Credentialing:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), or an equivalent credential accepted by the NBRC
- Program Requirement: Graduate of a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program accredited by CoARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care)
- Experience: Accepting candidates at all experience levels, from new graduates to seasoned professionals
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – American Heart Association
- Must be obtained within 120 days of hire if not already certified
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required only if working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Salary Range: Minimum $28.87 per hour - Maximum $47.58 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
