Position Summary:
The FLOAT POOL Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in ambulatory practice areas function as integral members of the interdisciplinary team. The CMA is responsible for direct patient care and clinic operations in the ambulatory clinic environment, including the maintenance of the environment of care and supplies/equipment. The CMA shares the responsibility with other clinicians in ensuring a safe environment for the patient while providing quality care and a positive patient experience. The CMA functions clinically under the authority of the physician within the scope of their certification. The CMA reports to the nurse manager and/or lead nurse, who is responsible for the administrative supervision and direction of staff, orientation and annual assessment of competencies and the assurance to clinic specific and hospital policies and procedures.

The CMA may will be required to float between 10-12 ambulatory practice areas. Ideal candidate should be flexible and able to take direction, as they learn the various clinic process, etc.

Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital

Hours:

  • Four, 9-hour days: Monday through Thursday - 7:00 - 4:00, 7:30 - 4:30, 8:00 - 5:00 (flexible with start and end times)
  • Four hours on Friday 7:30 - 11:30

Requirements for Hire


Education, Certifications and Licensure:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of CMA certification with the credentials of RMA, NCMA, NRCMA, CCMA or CMAA, prior to hire. Must maintain certification/ registration throughout employment.
  • Valid CPR certification required upon hire and recertification required every two years, through American Heart Association (AMA).
  • Must pass medication exam while in orientation. If remediation is required, additional time may be given up to the end of your probationary period.
  • 1+ years experience in float pool-oriented positions, strongly preferred.

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Sound documentation skills
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique, basic wound care, and dressing change principles
  • Knowledge of medication administration (oral and injection)
  • Knowledge of patient transport and positioning techniques

Salary Range: Minimum 18.15/hour - Maximum 26.32/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
