Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the JHU Addiction Clinical Director, the Addiction Medicine Therapist (AMT) is a lead coordinator in supporting the activities of the Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Division of Addiction Medicine and integral member of the JHH Substance Use Consult Service. The AMT supports care for patients with substance use disorders and collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team in their care delivery for patients with substance use. While collaborating with interdisciplinary care teams, the AMT makes recommendations for recovery. The AMT also provides individual therapy and care coordination and/or group education or therapy for patients with substance use disorders, and manages complex psychosocial situations related to social determinants of health. The AMT encourages patient wellness and optimal coping by managing complex psychosocial situations related to social determinants. Provides consultation support to a multidisciplinary team regarding the psychosocial context of the patient’s illness. Supports acquisition of data related to clinical and academic activities of the substance use consultation service and Division of Addiction Medicine. The AMT provides administrative assistance for the program clinical staff and supervises and mentors peer recovery coaches and substance use associated community health workers to achieve optimal outcomes.


  1. Registered nurse licensed in the State of Maryland with a baccalaureate degree and at least 3 years work experience in Addiction Medicine or related clinical field.

Work Experience:

Three years in a substance abuse or related mental health setting.
