Position Summary:

Assists with the development of and implements the organization's compensation strategy so that outcomes meet current and future business needs and are consistent with the organization's desired internal and external market position. Manage the daily operations of the Compensation team members. Develop, maintain and administer compensation processes to meet objectives with regards to internal equity and external market competitiveness. These programs may include: job evaluation; salary administration; short-term and sales incentive plans; expatriate compensation; salary packaging. Liaise with HR Leaders to develop and implement local compensation strategies appropriate for their business needs and consistent with the organization's overall reward strategy. Analyze and evaluate external market data and internal data about the current and projected employee population to develop salary budgets and forecasts. Manage relationships with Compensation Consultants/Senior Consultants, HRBPs and business leaders to ensure satisfactory standards of service. Lead, direct, evaluate and develop a team of professionals to ensure the reward strategy is implemented effectively, within established budgets and complies with all relevant regulations, laws and employment standards.

  • Client Relationship Management – Proactively lead team to build consultative and collaborative relationships with HR, Talent Acquisition and business leaders on compensation programs and initiatives. Establish and monitor service standards for the Compensation Team, using (JIRA) system metrics. Work with Compensation leadership and team members to clearly define and communicate roles and responsibilities for Compensation, Human Resources and Talent Acquisition for all common compensation processes. Design and implement educational sessions, preparations, training and ongoing educational materials for Human Resources, Talent Acquisition and business leaders to support understanding of Compensation programs, processes and policies.
  • Compensation Administration – Manage the delivery and administration of compensation processes and programs. Ensure compensation programs are consistently, effectively and efficiently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations. Leads to continuously improve compensation standard work and practices.
  • Management of Compensation Processes – Oversee administration of the off-cycle market process across the Health System to ensure consistency and efficiency. Effectively partner with Compensation Consultants/Sr. Consultants, HRBPs and business leaders to manage, consult and proactively resolve compensation issues through the use of creative and strategic guidance particularly for reorganization/restructuring and creation of new positions.
  • Management of Compensation Team – Hires, trains, manages and evaluates assigned staff. Ensures longer-term functional objectives are translated into shorter-term tasks.


Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources Management or related field.

BS/BA in related field, post graduate degree strongly preferred.


Thorough knowledge of the Civil Rights Act, Equal Pay Act, Fair Labor Standards Act and personnel administration theories and practices.

Thorough knowledge of compensation tools and programs.

Knowledge of performance management programs and alternative rewards systems.

Strong knowledge in all facets of the Compensation System, including base pay, incentive compensation plan design and administration, job evaluation and/or grade structures, market survey.

Knowledge of computer applications related to the analysis of compensation data including spreadsheets, databases and word processing.

Knowledge of Human Resources practices including Employment, EEO/AA, Labor Relations, Benefits and Safety and their relationship to Compensation practices.

Work Experience:

Seven+ years of progressive experience in the design and administration of compensation systems including job evaluation, data acquisition and analyses, survey completion and analysis, job description development, pay policy interpretation, performance management, merit and incentive pay including 2 years management capacity.

Experience building a new compensation system as a result of a merger of companies, or substantially restructuring a compensation system at an existing company.

Required Licensure Certification, etc.

CCP or SPHR preferred.
