Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Operations, reports to the Sr. Director of Operations and will assist in the organization, development and management of the department. The position assumes responsibility for operations, selection and development of staff and other leaders. The Assistant Director participates in hospital programs and/or committees, leads operational projects and assists with activities related to languages services operations, quality monitoring, vendor management, contract management, etc. This position develops budget drafts and monitors activities in the cost center.
This position is also responsible for administrative aspects of operations, financial oversight of operating budgets, capital budgets, facility management, and other functions such as new program development/ campaigns, and system integration efforts. The role ensures timely and accurate communication of departmental status to system leadership and staff members, and supports Senior Leadership in assuring business continuity, information technology, and succession plans are in place to maintain operations for safe and appropriate patient care.
The Assistant Director assumes responsibility for activities within the department, plans and participates in meeting with clinical departments, and responds to operational and service-related issues reported by clinical departments and Patient Experience. This role will also support e Sr. leadership with strategic planning.
Competencies:
A. Education: BA or BS required. MA degree in business, health care administration, or other-related field preferred.
B. Knowledge:
Comprehensive understanding of health care, hospital policies and procedures, healthcare operations, finance, and patient care
Knowledge of current health care environment, and medical terminology
P&L awareness for budget management
Strategic thinking ability to determine strengths and opportunities and to prioritize initiatives
Knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance requirements related to healthcare, , as well as health system procedures applicable to patient services and patient rights
Awareness of JHM organizational structure
Experience in Inter-cultural team management
Knowledge of Service Excellence
Knowledge of leadership principles, conflict resolution and change management
Professional knowledge of business, administrative, and clinical processes

D. Work Experience: Requires 8 years of experience in health care, with 5 years in a management role.
Experience in Inter-cultural team management preferred.
Operational leadership and system-level project management experience preferred.
