GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position reports to the Director Performance Excellence. This role is responsible for data analytics and additional support of performance measures, ongoing measurement, data collection, reporting, data visualization, and information dissemination. They are subject matter data experts that work with IT solutions to solve high priority organizational analytic problems in their work area. This role involves developing and fine tuning exploratory IT solutions, which includes coding, testing, debugging, designing, and implementing newly developed BI solutions. Spends time researching and planning analytic solutions for existing and new problems within the organization as directed by their supervisor and leadership. Responsible for leading the subject matter strategic design and maintenance of business intelligence tools. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems independently, but works collaboratively with project teams. Ensures that the use of business intelligence applications enhance clinical & business decision-making capabilities. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Goals are communicated in solution or project goal terms. Will provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Partners and collaborates with other analytic teams and data warehouse engineers.

Knowledge:
Requires a thorough knowledge of health care and hospital business operations. Requires knowledge and understanding of the interrelationship of business process and Information Systems applications. Requires a thorough knowledge of data warehouse and data management principles and processes and database development. Understands the range of options and best practices for common Business intelligence design techniques such as change data capture, key generation and optimization, and performance tuning. Significant experience with data quality, data profiling, metadata management and reporting. Knowledge of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Strong proficiency in SQL programming, query writing, query performance tuning, and database technologies. Advanced knowledge in medical terminology and clinical informatics. Ability to distill and articulate technical and organizational approach to clinical data needs.

Ability to manage long term client and vendor relationships, including resolution of production issues and upgrades, to help future product development better to meet the needs of the organization. Demonstrated command of web technologies and business intelligence techniques & tools. Must be detail-oriented and accurate.

Required Licensure Certification:
EDW internal certification required within 6 months. A certification such as Certified Analytics Professional, project management, or a certification in a data analytic tool such as Tableau Software, or Epic required. The ability to obtain Epic Caboodle or Clarity Certification as requested in the first year.
