The Johns Hopkins Hospital Oncology Functional Unit Coordinator (OFUN) is a clinical role designed to support inpatient and outpatient nursing services within our Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our adult patients have solid or liquid tumors and are being treated with surgical interventions, radiation therapies, standard of care and research chemo, and immunotherapies. Care is delivered on a continuum that incorporates acute, intermediate and critical care nursing services. The Functional Unit Coordinator will work in the capacity of a shift coordinator and provide unit leadership including staffing assistance, admission/discharge patient flow, bed management and will respond to emergencies on inpatient units and outpatient clinics in the Weinberg building.
BSN required. Must be from an accredited nursing program.
- Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required
- ACLS preferred. BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted
2 years of acute care RN experience in oncology preferred or other subspecialty training for a minimum of 2 years.
Ability to role model and support practices consistent with evidenced based care, guide others with plan of care, independently make clinical decisions in complex situations, and proactively assist others with patient assignment.
