The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in the ambulatory practice functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team. The CMA has duties and responsibilities related to patient care in the ambulatory clinic environment. The CMA functions under the direct supervision and authority of the physician when performing patient care. The CMA reports to the clinic manager or lead nurse, who is responsible for the administrative supervision and orientation of the CMA to the area’s policies and procedures. The CMA obtains vital signs, assists patient in preparation for examination/ procedure, records and documents in the medical record, ensures safe & efficient patient flow, administers medications and immunizations, and organizes the clinic environment to assure patient safety. The individual displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively to others and functions at the highest level based on scope of practice.
Familiar with medical terminology and documenting in electronic health record.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program required.
Requires successful interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, physicians and other health care team members in order to foster optimal quality of outpatient care.
Day, Full Time (40 hours)
8:00 am -4:30 pm
JHH, 600 N. Wolfe Street, Must be able to float between other OB/GYN practice areas including JHOC, White Marsh, and Greenspring Station.
The CMA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Effective time management and organizational skills.
Required Licensure, Certification:
Successful completion of the RMA, NCMA, NRCMA, CCMA, or CMAA, prior to hire. Must maintain certification/ registration throughout employment. Valid CPR certification required upon hire and recertification required every two years.
