The Johns Hopkins Hospital Certified Nursing Assistant - Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) is a 32 bed adult inpatient surgical unit. The unit offers 3 levels of care: floor, telemetry, and intermediate levels of care for acute cardiac, vascular, and other surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring. Care and services provided: coronary artery bypass, Heartmate© II or III & Heartware© mechanical circulatory support devices, valve replacement or repairs, Type A & B aortic dissections, fem-pop bypass, scalenectomy, TAVR, heart or lung transplantation.

Shifts: 12 hours day night rotating, every third weekend; 36 hours per week


  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of a certified training course for Nursing Assistants required
  • Active Maryland Nursing Assistant Certification is required
  • Active and valid CPR certification required upon hire
  • No work experience required; Ideal candidates have at least 6 months of experience
