Position Summary:
This position is responsible for analyzing, reviewing and resolving coding, billing and documentation issues that are related to reimbursement, compliance and revenue enhancement. The Auditor will review medical record documentation to assure services are billed with the appropriate diagnosis and procedures, will assign the appropriate ICD-9, CPT and HCPCS code as documented to assure a complete clinical data set. This position measures the accuracy and timeliness of the clinical and revenue procedure codes assigned to a patient encounter through review and analysis of documentation and patient claims. The successful candidate must also research coding – billing conflicts using a variety of sources and document solutions. The auditor will document relevant trends of inaccurate coding and areas that are high risk for compliance issues to upper management. In addition, this position interacts with the Patient Financial Services, Compliance, Internal Audit and Casemix staff to educate and resolve data quality and billing issues. Because it is a system job, responsibilities must be performed at all three acute care institutions.
Education:
Diploma/Certificate/GED required
Work Experience:
Minimum of Five years experience in outpatient coding, experience in all settings required
