Position Summary:

Reports to the Manager of Clinical Analytics and is responsible for developing, planning, testing, and implementing analysis and project plans in regards to the transformation of operational and clinical data. Performs analysis in order to provide meaningful information to support operations and quality and safety improvement. The Clinical Analytics Project Leader is able to extract many types of information and create meaningful analysis for use at both a detailed level and for management reporting.

Acts as project lead for one or more clinical communities or quality improvement initiatives within the Johns Hopkins Health System, and is responsible for leading and organizing the analytic components of these initiatives which stem from internal JHHS data sources, as well as benchmarking from external sources.

Competencies:

Education: Requires a professional level of knowledge in Data Processing as normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Health Information Management, informatics, health care management or related field.

Knowledge: High level of understanding of structured programming, types of databases, file structures and programming tools. Must have analytical ability to solve both business and technical problems.

Requires a working knowledge of data warehouse and data management principles. Requires experience with data transformation and analytics projects. Hospital or health care experience preferred

Demonstrated experience with one or more of following languages: Crystal Reports, Report Definition Language (3M HRM Language), SQL, SPSS, Microsoft Access. Epic Clarity certification preferred but not required.

Demonstrated experience with project management tools and techniques, as well as leading projects as acquired during two to four years progressively more responsible experience.

Skills: High analytical ability to solve complex technical problems. Able to lead the work of a diversified staff in various environments. Able to lead the work of staff in other groups.

Advanced interpersonal skills to effectively interface with department heads, JHM personnel, vendors, and consultants, to lead projects. Able to effectively communicate and interact with JHHS staff.

Demonstrated ability to establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames and under tight deadlines. Willingness to work off hours as needed in support of changes to the computing environment.

Participates in the specification, design, implementation, and management of multiple projects.

Analyzes user needs and requirements and defines project plan. Prepares status and project reports.

Prepares and presents system design specifications or proposals along with recommendations regarding the feasibility of implementation.

Keeps abreast of current trends and developments in the field.

Work Experience: Work requires experience with computer systems and applications as acquired during a minimum of four years related experience.
