Position Summary:

The Clinical Coordinator is a registered nurse with demonstrated clinical and management skills who is accountable and responsible for maintaining the standards of care, coordinating operations, and supervising personnel in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. A second important function is the ability to work in a collaborative manner with the physicians, technologists, and the department of Patient Care Services to facilitate timely patient care considering resources, patient care needs, and quality, safe care. This person will be responsible and accountable for staffing and scheduling changes once the schedule is posted. Additional responsibilities include ensuring process improvement and service excellence improvement initiatives are followed. Is responsible for the implementation of the vision, mission, philosophy, core values, evidence-based practice, and standards of the organization, and nursing services within the Diagnostic Imaging Department.


  1. Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  2. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of Maryland.
  3. BS in nursing required.
  4. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in direct patient care with current and previous experience in applicable clinical specialty.
  5. Minimum of two (2) years demonstrated leadership experience required.
  6. Will be trained to be the credentialed trainer for Cupid/EPIC.


  1. Current Maryland license as a Registered Nurse or licensure in a compact state that allows practice in Maryland.
  2. Current CPR certification. Current ACLS certification required.
  3. Certification in one of the areas related to DI nursing is preferred. These are critical care certification (CCRN), peri-anesthesia certification CPAN), radiology nurse certification (CRN) or registered cardiovascular invasive specialist (RCIS). If not present, is expected to obtain certification within two (2) years of hire.


1. BSN is preferred for nurses hired prior to July 1, 2016.

2. All nurses hired after July 1, 2016 must:

• Hold a BSN, or

• Complete a BSN program within 4 years of their hire date with steady progress toward degree completion. Steady progress is defined as a minimum of 9 credits per calendar year from the time they begin course work. RNs who are not yet enrolled in a BSN program, must apply to and be accepted into a BSN program within six months of hire, with course work to begin promptly after acceptance.

3. Minimum of one (1) year of experience preferred.

4. Previous specialty clinical experience preferred for specialty units.


1. Current Maryland license as RN or licensure in a compact state that allows practice in Maryland. CPR required.

2. Must be able to pass all hospital competencies required for the position including but not limited to the following:

• ACLS required for the following departments: Labor and Delivery (all current Labor and Delivery nurses are to be certified by 2022), ICU, ED, PACU, IMC (SCU), Short Stay (Observation Unit), Cardiac Catheterization (Interventional Cardiovascular lab), Endoscopy, Cardiac Rehab, Infusion Services Clinic, Pulmonary Function.

• PALS required for the following departments: Pediatric ER, Pediatrics and PACU.

• NRP required for the following departments: NICU and Labor and Delivery.

• EFM required for the following departments: Nursery, Maternal Child Unit and Labor and Delivery.

3. New graduates and inexperienced transfers will have up to 18 months to obtain the appropriate certification. Experienced new hires must obtain the appropriate certification within the first year of employment.

4. National certification in applicable specialty preferred.
