The Clinical Coordinator, Perianesthesia is a registered nurse with demonstrated clinical and management skills who is accountable and responsible for maintaining the standards of care and supervising personnel in the Perianesthesia Suite on a daily basis. A second important function is the ability to work in a collaborative manner with the OR/PACU management team and the Anesthesia department to manage the daily OR schedule to facilitate timely patient flow considering resources, patient care needs, and quality, safe care. Performs quality assurance/improvement activities for the department.
Supervises all personnel as designated by the Nurse Manager to ensure standards of care are met. Provides feedback to the Nurse Manager concerning staff performance and collaborates with the Nurse Manager to counsel/discipline staff as needed to enhance their growth and development. Completes annual evaluations, probationary evaluations, and departmental orientations in a timely manner for those employees under his/her direct supervision.
Acts as a clinical resource to the nursing staff; teaches, mobilizes resources, and creates an atmosphere conducive to learning. Provides feedback to the Nurse Manager on resources needed to enhance skills of staff and provide suitable educational programs. Participates in hiring and interviewing processes for potential applicants.
Leads the Scheduling Committee and collaborates with the Nurse Manager to complete monthly staffing schedule to meet staffing standards. Communicates schedule changes to Nurse Manager for payroll in a timely manner.
