Provides direct psychological, social and practical care to a select caseload of patients and families including social work assessments, problem identification, goal setting and implementation of care plans. Makes referrals to outside agencies and coordinates continuity of care. Works collaboratively with and provides leadership with the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes. Serves as a clinical resource expert in a specialty area. Provides clinical oversight and consultation in the absence of the Clinical Social Worker III/Director. Must focus in the area of clinical practice, education or research. Functions as a mentor for others. May be expected to provide on-call coverage, as needed.
B.Knowledge:What are the acquired information or concepts needed?
-Knowledge of biopsychosocial and cultural elements of clinical social work practice.
-Knowledge of procedures, systems, and organizational objectives used within social work.
-Effective knowledge of community resources.
-Knowledge of current health care environment.
-Knowledge of and ability to gather relevant data to synthesize and summarize information in making judgments regarding patient care.
-Knowledge of the medical and psychosocial sequelae of course of illness and impact on social functioning (may be specific to patient population).
-Knowledge of relevant community resources commensurate with illness, symptoms, mental status and impairments in functioning.
C. Supervisory Responsibility:What is the level of responsibility to directly supervise, assign work to, check the work of, and/or instruct other employees?
-Provides consultation and direction to staff (students, support staff). May directly supervise clinical staff.
-Must be able to assume some functions of a Senior Social Worker.
-Serves as a mentor to other social workers, particularly those at the entry level.
PROBLEM SOLVING:What is the extent to which the work requires the ability to gather and interpret quantitative and qualitative data and to find solutions to difficult and/or complex problems?
-Integrate multiple information sources and use social work theoretical frameworks to develop a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment and treatment plan responsive to patient/family needs and concerns.
-Initiates corrective action; understands and uses principles of conflict resolution within the clinical aspects of the problem.
Full Time (40 hours)
Day Shift 8 a to 5 p
Utilize a rotation schedule: weekend on call from Friday evening 5p to Monday morning 8a and all day and evening holidays to answer calls generated from the Cancer Center.
Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:What formal licensure/certification/registrations are required by the Hospital and/or regulatory agencies?
-Must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners at the LCSW-C level.
•Is licensed to practice social work in another state or possesses social work qualifications in another jurisdiction comparable and
•Meets requirement established by the Board in regulations and
•Has an application for a license pending before the Board or
•Has successfully passed an examination or examinations prescribed by the Board pertinent to the license sought.
Masters Degree required
2 years of related experience required
Will Consider Clinical Social Worker I- LGSW
Works in patient care areas where there are no physical discomforts due to dust, dirt, temperature and the like
