Johns Hopkins Community Physicians is seeking an experienced Coding Specialist III in our Clinical Education department. The Coding Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of coding, provider education, practice improvement, quality assurance and compliance with Federal payer documentation guidelines. The Coding Specialist works closely with departmental management and Sr. Director of Education & Training in the Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians, and coordinates with Clinical Practice Association, Office of Billing Quality Assurance, and JHM Compliance to include review of documentation and revenue cycle performance improvement.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification required. Risk Adjustment Certification preferred. Sub specialty coding certification or second AAPC certification in any area of expertise. (Internal Candidates only - when a sub specialty coding certification or second AAPC certification is not available in clinical specialization, additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of second certification at the discretion of department management.)
Minimum five (5) years coding experience with demonstrated analytical skills. Experience with Medicare regulations. Understanding of third party payer issues. Preferred EPIC experience.
