The Senior Core Service Specialist, is responsible for performing all financial clearance functions related to insurance verification for new and established patients scheduled to receive services at multiple JHM entities. Entities include but are not limited. to: Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview, Howard County General and Suburban Hospital. Other sites include but are not limited to Johns Hopkins Community Physician sites. Financial Clearance will include but is not limited to: verify eligibility and benefits, obtain referrals, obtain pre-authorizations, pre-certification and pre-determinations. The person in this position is required when necessary to identify and confirm all resources that enable the patient to pay for scheduled and/or non-scheduled services. Other resources include but are not limited to: self-payment verification to include fee estimates, charity care, drug sponsor coverage and/or other financial assistance.
Full-Time, 40 hours per week
Day Shift, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m

Work Location: Johns Hopkins at Keswick, Baltimore, MD
High school diploma or GED, technical training. Completion in a Medical Terminology Course.
Four years related medical office, hospital, or specialty medical practice related experience. Of the 4 years, at least 2 must be working directly with multiple health insurance plans and/or claims billing; insurance verification, authorization and referral processing. Experience in pharmacy verification and authorization is a plus.
Must possess intermediate to advanced computer skills in the following applications: Microsoft Word 2003 or later, Microsoft Excel 2003 or later, internet for research purposes, Novell or Outlook 2007 or later. Skill level is proven through pre-hire assessments. Must type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
Certification on appropriate registration systems is required during the 90-Day introductory period. Additional certifications may be required as needed to support educational requirements for systems and job training..
Works in normal office environment where there is little discomfort to due to the extremes of heat, dust, noise, temperature and the like
