Position Summary:

The position will be part of a team responsible for developing and maintaining decision support solutions. The qualified candidate will: develop links to various data sources within Johns Hopkins Medicine; create automated reporting tools for financial, payroll, research, education, and clinical practice systems, for various users and roles within Johns Hopkins Medicine; create and maintain user profiles; program and create user interfaces with either a web based or PC Installed client along with appropriate security protections; maintain and prioritize job requests with supervision; create and maintain system documentation; adhere to organizational testing and QA standards. Knowledge of SQL server or comparable database with DBA skills is recommended. Experience using BIDS in creating SSIS packages and developing solutions using SSRS and SSAS is highly preferred. In addition, programming with Visual Basic, .NET, ASP, XML, Java Scripts, and Business Objects Business Intelligence solutions is also preferred. A conceptual understanding of Object oriented programming is also recommended.

Competencies:

Education:

Masters Degree in a related field coupled with one year of experience in information technology, such as systems administration, application development, or database administration. Or a Bachelors degree in a related technical field with two years of experience in information technology, such as systems administration, application development, or database administration.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of SQL server or comparable databases with DBA skills is recommended. Experience using BIDS in creating SSIS packages and developing solutions using SSRS and SSAS is highly preferred. In addition, programming with Visual Basic, .NET, ASP, XML, Java Scripts, and Business Objects Business Intelligence solutions is also preferred. A conceptual understanding of Object oriented programming is also recommended. Two years of programming experience in VB/VB Script and SQL Server required.

Skills:

Data reconciliation and analytical skills required. Interpersonal skills to participate in a dynamic team based development environment. Initiative to independently identify questions, problems, and opportunities. Ability to work independently with general supervision.

Working Conditions:

Works in normal office environment where there are limited physical discomforts due to temperature, noise, and dust. Possibility of working under tight deadlines and for extended hours. Work may cause visual /mental fatigue due to attention to detail and the frequent use of a PC.
