The diagnostic Sonographer is responsible for producing diagnostic information using the sonography equipment and related diagnostic techniques. The Sonographer acquires and evaluates data, while exercising discretion and judgment in performance of the clinical examination.

Location: Johns Hopkins Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C is now hiring Ultrasound Technologist in the OB department. 

Schedule:

  • Wed, Fri, Sat.
  • Thur, Fri, Sat.
  • 12hr Night Shifts.
  • 7PM - 7:30AM. 

Requirements

  • Performs ultrasound and vascular ultrasound studies.
  • Duties include performance of studies, documentation, evaluation of images, portable examinations, high level disinfection duties per protocol.
  • Observe screen during scan to ensure that image produced is satisfactory for diagnostic purposes, making adjustments to equipment as required.
  • Observe and care for patients throughout examinations to ensure their safety and comfort.
  • Provide sonogram and oral or written summary of technical findings to physician for use in medical diagnosis.
  • Select appropriate equipment settings and adjust patient positions to obtain the best sites and angles.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to produce and record images of the motion, shape, and composition of blood, organs, tissues, or bodily masses, such as fluid accumulations.
  • Prepare patient for exam by explaining procedure, transferring patient to ultrasound table, scrubbing skin and applying gel, and positioning patient properly.
  • Knowledge of the needs of patients according to their age group and the ability to modify care according to patient's age. The Sonographer will most frequently care for adults, geriatric and neonate patients, and rarely with adolescent, child, and infant patients.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED. 
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience required. 
  • RDMS required.
  • CPR BLS certification required.
  • Successful completion of an approved curriculum in diagnostic sonography (Preferred).
