The Director Facilities and Grounds is responsible for all facility operations of JH Ambulatory facilities including Green Spring Station, White Marsh, Odenton and Columbia. The position is also assigned direct responsibility for various aspects of the due diligence process applied to oversee acquisitions of new clinics and facilities. It oversees and/or assist with facility operations for all assigned Ambulatory Surgery Centers within Johns Hopkins Medicine. The Director Facilities and Grounds will maintain a physical environment to support efficient, high quality patient care operations. This position is responsible for the optimal function of building systems. The Director Facilities and Grounds will develop short and long-term facility utilization O&M plans, ensure compliance with building codes, health and safety standards, oversee contractors for outsourced services, manage and oversee technical projects, assist with group projects, be responsible for cost controls associated with maintaining the facility, equipment, and furnishings. The Director Facilities and Grounds manages and supervises a staff of building engineers, project managers, janitorial supervisors, day porters and contract employees in the maintenance of buildings and grounds. The position is responsible for maintenance and renovation projects including but not limited to design, development of contracts, construction, infectious control, inspections and project close out. The Director Facilities and Grounds assures that the facility testing and documentation required for The Joint Commission are completed as required. These requirements are accomplished through joint efforts with Health Safety Environment and Health Environment Infection Control. The position balances internal involvement with CEPAR and other JHHS departments and committees to interact with local government agencies and the community to provide emergency preparedness. The Director Facilities and Grounds is an on-call position, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

- Education: A bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent experience obtained by working in a similar position with supervisory responsibilities for 15 or more years.
- Knowledge: Requires a strong professional knowledge of facility management. Requires a strong background with renovations, construction and project management.
Requires a solid diversified knowledge of all workings within the mechanical field for existing and new technology. Requires an understanding of The Joint Commission standards and required documentation.
Requires a working knowledge of Federal, State and Local codes with respect to building compliance (ADA, OHSA, Life Code 101, HAZMAT, etc.)
C. Skills: Requires a high level of analytical and strategic planning ability in order to develop operating budgets, goals and objectives, and to manage the resources associated with multiple ambulatory facilities.
Requires a high level of interpersonal interaction to positively communicate and work with professionals at all levels of the organization.
D. Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.: CFC and Refrigerant Certification is preferred.
E. Work Experience.' Requires a minimum of fifteen years' experience in facility management including supervisory experience and managing multiple sites.
F. Machines, Tools, Equipment: Essential office equipment and common business software required. Working experience with Metesys, Honeywell, Tridium and C-Cure preferred.
