JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for operating a child day care center licensed for 40 or less students and designed to (1) promote a therapeutic/developmental day care program for young children; (2) provide a day care program for children of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center employees; (3) provide intergenerational liaison programs.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

  • Develops operational policies and procedures, which stipulate admission requirements, tuition collection, record keeping, parental consent documents, staffing, student discipline, and policies referencing abuse.

  • Ensures program maintains compliance with all Federal, State and local regulations governing child day care centers.

  • Selects, trains and supervises teachers and other support staff. Institutes disciplinary/termination measures as required.

  • Designs program curriculum that provides intellectual development, enhances communication and listening skills, motor development, emotional/social growth, and assists students in developing self-help skills.

  • Establishes and maintains a regular program of intergenerational contacts between the Adult Care Center, and the Child Day Center in conjunction with the Director Adult Day Care Center

  • Develops and monitors approved departmental budget. Forecasts revenues/expenses. Organizes and coordinates fund raising activities.

  • Markets Center’s operations both internally to employees and externally in order to recruit and maintain the maximum licensed student capacity. Develops and adjusts scheduling to accommodate Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center employee schedules, i.e. 12 hour shifts, 3 or 4 day work week, etc.

  • Regularly interacts with internal administration, parents, Day Care Advisory Board, community agencies, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work requires knowledge typically acquired through competition of a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and two years of previous experience. Competition of 90 hours of childcare assistant training program also required.

  • Valid CPR certification (Healthcare Provider) required.

  • Must complete the Training Checklist for Managers and Supervisors (described in the Training Catalog under Management Development Curriculum) within twelve months of employment/promotion date.
