Reporting to the Senior Director of Facilities Design and Construction, the Director of Facilities Design and Construction is responsible for all aspects of Routine Capital projects from concept through activation; included are renovations, facility improvements, repairs and equipment-related projects. Additionally the Director is responsible for selectively assigned Special projects including new or complex construction and/or equipment requirements and porjects for Hospital affiliated organizations.

The Director provides leadership to project managers, in-house design team, in-house construction team, project commissioners and supporting staff regarding the execution of projects. Develops and leads strategies to build credible working relationships with internal and external customers including contractors, consultants and clinical staff.

Develops policies and procedures and manages their implementation in accordance with strategic objectives or initiatives. Prepares staffing and budgetary plans, and manages resources to achieve goals. Performs general managerial duties such as supervising staff, planning, scheduling, budgeting, data analysis, reporting and performing presentations; coordinates traiing and other programs to develop and enhance individual technical and management skills and to ensure the retention and career advancement of employees and managers in the department.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's or advanced degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Business or related field. Intense and successful working experience in project/construction/design management or related field acceptable to the Senior Director can be used in whole or part instead of a degree. Requires 10 years progressively responsible experience directly related to project management, construction and/or design. Demonstrated leadership abilities and proven experience in exercising good judgment and discretion.
