The Director of Patient Safety (DPS) assumes responsibility for the coordination of activities related to the organizational journey towards becoming a High Reliability Organization. The DPS provides comprehensive assessment of organizational needs to identify strategies to improve patient safety and clinical outcomes and serves as a leader in the on-going advancement of a “Just Culture” that promotes the non-punitive reporting of potential safety concerns. This role will drive safety innovation through the identification and deployment of Patient Safety activities.
The DPS collaborates with various interdisciplinary teams that may include: the Director of Performance Improvement, Director of Risk and Director of Quality & Clinical Documentation Improvement. Medical Staff, Nursing, Pharmacy, Providers and other clinical care providers to achieve organizational goals related to Patient Safety.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Active license as Registered Nurse recognized by the State of Maryland
- At least Five years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse
- Experience with database and spreadsheet management, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Experience in Patient Relations or Risk Management Preferred
