Investigates building systems and documents operational data. Prepares recommendations for system improvements, maintenance programs and evaluations. Aids the onsite building operations team in the daily trouble-shooting and repairs of mechanical systems, especially the Building Automation System (BAS). This work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Engineering Operations, under the technical oversight of the Senior Engineering Project manager, and the daily oversight of the hospital Maintenance Manager.

The candidate for this position must have 10 years of experience in the Building Automation Trade. Completion of a trade apprenticeship program is preferred. The position requires some occasional off-shift work to meet the hospital needs. Knowledge of DDC systems is required.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. An AA degree is preferred.

A masters electrical license is preferred.

Specific training in the area of expertise (engineering and/or maintenance discipline) equivalent to 1 year of college; such training may be at a vocational or technical school, college, or apprenticeship sponsor organization.

Keeps current with changing technology and practices in the industry.

Working Conditions:

Works in a normal office environment where there are limited physical discomforts due to temperature, noise, dust and the like.

May be exposed to construction hazards.

May spend extended periods of time working at computer station.

May spend time in shop and mechanical area environments with exposure to dust, heat, cold, noise and fumes.

May work outdoors with exposure to extreme temperatures & other weather conditions.

Work may require the ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time.

May get into/work within confined spaces and in awkward positions.

May work at heights of up to 30 feet above surface using ladders, lifts and equipment.

Work may require ability to load/unload and transport/position tools, equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
