Reports to the area manager/supervisor. Processes, cleans, handles and manages the fiberoptic scopes and endoscopic accessory fleet of the Department. Responsible, primarily for supporting the procedural area staff, to include physicians, nursing, by ensuring that all fiberoptics and accessories are cleaned, high level disinfected or sterilized per protocol, maintained, fully operational, and available for use before the start of cases. Performs processing and handling duties in accordance with departmental policy. Provides prompt, courteous customer service. Responsible for documentation for device tracking and process improvement efforts. Demonstrates ability to identify device failures and malfunctions. Effectively communicates and follows department policies for reporting malfunctioning devices and accessories or operational concerns. Maintains annual competencies to ensure expertise in fiberoptic function, processing and handling.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Work requires a high school diploma or GED.
- Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) certification through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution required within 18 months of hire.
- Healthcare related experience preferred: three to six months of experience with surgical and/or anesthesia procedures, instrumentation and equipment is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications (office productivity software, email applications, and healthcare information systems).
