Position Summary:

Works under general supervision and prepares, seasons, and cooks food for Hospital patients, employees, and visitors. Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes, using a variety of manual and/or electric kitchen utensils and equipment.

Knowledge:

Work requires knowledge of basic cooking techniques and the ability to operate kitchen equipment and machinery.

Education:

Work requires a level of math and English normally acquired through the completion of an eighth grade education.

Work Experience:

Requires a minimum of one year of prior cooking experience in any large food service operation

Rotation, Casual (19 hours)

5:30 am – 9:00 pm

Skills:

Work requires the ability to read and follow instructions. Requires the ability to operate standard kitchen machinery, read menus, work schedules and prices. Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with hospital patients, visitors and staff and to provide courteous services.

Required Licensure, Certification:

Serve safe sanitation certification preferred from an approved culinary program.

Working Conditions:

Works in an environment where there is exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Work requires the use of the following safety equipment: gloves, slip resistant shoes and outerwear such as aprons and hair nets. Work requires the ability to lift (up to 50 lbs) and/or transports food, carts and warmers. Work requires standing and/or walking for extended periods of time. Honor all reasonable requests made by supervisor, which may or may not be outside your normal duties, to ensure guest satisfaction along with a smooth, functional kitchen operation.
