Position Summary:

The Health Promotion Specialist will assist the Medical Director in strategic planning, oversight and execution of health promotion programs primarily centered on mindfulness, but also including other healthy lifestyle practices. Working across department lines and across the Hopkins enterprise, the Health Promotion Specialist identifies and implements well-being initiatives to educate, engage and encourage employees, spouses and dependents to achieve health improvement goals. In conjunction with the Chief Medical Director of Employee Health and Well-being, the Health Promotion Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert on mindfulness and health improvement opportunities in the work environment. The Health Promotion Specialist will also support and collaborate with other Johns Hopkins Medicine affiliates to implement or improve other workplace wellness programs. This position will be a highly visible component of JHM health and well-being initiatives and must be able to promote health behaviors and project a positive and supportive image of workplace wellness.


Requires a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Health Promotion/Education, Public Health, Health Care Administration or a related field.

Work Experience:

Requires a minimum of five years’ experience in the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of health and productivity initiatives aimed toward improving the health status of a population, preferably in the work/employer setting. Must have experience with or be able to demonstrate knowledge of improving a workplace culture of health. Prior project management experience preferred. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher certified preferred. Additional experience running group intervention programs also preferred.
