If you are a RN with at least 2 years of acute care experience and a passion for infection prevention, we want to speak with you! Join our team and be at the forefront of infection prevention and control. The Infection Preventionist develops and manages the activities of the Hospital-wide Infection Control Program to minimize the risk of infection to patients, employee and vistors. You will also demostrate strong leadership, organizational and decision-making skills, the ability to function independently, and to communicate effectively with all members of the organization's healthcare team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Become, or already are, an Infection Preventionist. Infection Prevention and Control is a broad and evolving discipline that is critical to hospital operations.
  • Daily interaction with most departments, disciplines, and various individuals within the hospital. Excellent communication skills are needed.
  • Perform multiple types of surveillance, data collection and analysis, outbreak and other investigative work, unit rounding, and applying critical thinking skills.
  • Work with clinical staff and providers to prevent healthcare-associated infections by implementing evidence-based practices.
  • Be a subject matter expert on infection prevention and control practices and provide training and education to staff, physicians, patients and their families
  • Collaborate with local and state health department officials on communicable disease reporting, outbreak investigations, and emerging diseases.

Educational Requirements/Preferences:

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting
  • Current RN license or be an ASCP certified medical technologist
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related healthcare field, or have a Master’s in Public Health with experience in hospital epidemiology and infection control
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or obtain certification within 1 year of hire
  • Infection Prevention and Control experienced is strongly preferred.

This is a full-time, day shift position with some evening and weekend work required.

The hours are 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (but may vary, depending upon need)

You will be remotely on-call as the Infection Preventionist Representative for the hospital on an alternating basis.
