Position Summary:
The Interventional Radiology and Cardiovascular Laboratories Technologist is under the general supervision of the Manager of Interventional Radiology & Cardiovascular Laboratories. The Interventional Radiology and Cardiovascular Laboratories Technologist performs a variety of technical and patient-oriented duties during cardiovascular procedures, including, but not limited to: interventional radiologic; cardiac catheterization; pacemaker, ICD & loop recorder insertions, arteriograms, venograms, digital subtraction angiography, vascular and endovascular studies, nephrostograms, angioplasty and other related invasive and interventional radiologic studies and therapies. The equipment utilized may include, but is not limited to: hemodynamic and physiologic monitoring equipment; surgical instruments; cardiac output machine; pulse oximeter; ECG machine; intra-aortic balloon pump; etc. Performs invasive procedures; ECG's, monitors patients electronically during procedures, and prepares test results and data for review. Assists with pre and post-procedure hemostasis management of patients, according to established guidelines. Work occasionally requires internal contacts outside the work group to exchange work related information. Contact with external contacts involves providing or receiving information. Requires courtesy and tact in assisting all customers.
Education/Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program.
- One (1) year of cardiovascular lab experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
- Radiologic technologist licensure in the State of Maryland.
- Current registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Current BCLS certification.
- ACLS certification preferred or gained within 6 months of employment.
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Certified Interventional Technologist (CIT) preferred.
- IV certification by HCGH within ninety (90) days of hire date.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
