Responsible for the work activities of a group of IT professionals specializing in Epic and OnBase. Reviews work for completeness and technical accuracy. Participates in project planning to ensure effective use of technology and/or business process to meet customers’ needs. Allocates resources to accomplish goals and objectives through assigned staff. Establishes and monitors project and task schedules and ensures adherence to work deadlines. Provides leadership, motivation, and direction to staff, builds teamwork, and fosters staff cohesion. Selects, trains, and evaluates staff. Works on multiple, complex projects simultaneously. Participates in long range strategy and planning for department and corporation. Provides business analysis and requirements definitions to senior management.
Task requirements for position
Management responsibility for Epic Application Coordinators, Epic Trainers, and OnBase team members. Maintains a consistently optimizing attitude, reviewing system workflows for areas of improvement and pushing team members to think about all possibilities. Builds relationships with operational partners to understand workflows and needs to provide excellent technical support and thought partnership. Oversees Epic upgrades from the application perspective and directly manages OnBase upgrades. Supports flexible management styles as teams progress through various transformations and communicates changes effectively. Mentors team members for professional growth and challenges team members to think critically, design strategically, increase efficiency, and add automation.
Work requires a professional level of knowledge in Information Analysis and Delivery as acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree. A Master’s degree is preferred. Equivalent work experience may be substituted.
Work requires extensive knowledge in planning, monitoring, measuring and reporting on application projects focusing on Epic and OnBase and leveraging project methodologies and project management tools and techniques. Knowledge of managed care operations and medical coding (CPT, ICD9, DME, HCPCS). Demonstrated ability to define requirements and propose workflows and strategies to solve business problems. Familiar with software development lifecycles.
Broad knowledge of healthcare service applications, change control management and production/ operations support services required. Familiar with operational performance improvement principles.
High analytical ability to solve complex business problems. Skilled in directing the work of a diversified staff on various applications, focusing on Epic and OnBase. Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate appropriate timeframes for deliverables to customers. Advanced interpersonal skills to interface effectively with department heads, employees, clients, consultants and team members.
Must have the ability to effectively manage staff engaged in multiple projects with critical deliverables and target dates. Must be able to establish appropriate metrics to evaluate the quality of applications / infrastructure systems and to develop reporting requirements around those metrics. Must be able to develop specifications, policies and procedures consistent with QA principles to deliver a highly reliable system product.

Work requires a minimum of 7 years’ experience as well as a minimum of 5 years planning and managing projects and supervising staff.

Works effectively with PC productivity tools as required.
A. Budget Responsibility:
Tracks spending on departmental expenses relative to budget. Requests computer supplies and equipment within departmental budget parameters. Provides input pertaining to the budget requirements of the supervised areas.
B. Authority/Decision Making Level:
Recommends salary action and promotions. Hires/terminates staff. Makes decisions on project level. Prioritizes and organizes work for staff to meet changing priorities. Recommends business solutions to customer and management. Develops and recommends relevant policies and procedures.
C. Supervisory Responsibility:
Performs staff disciplinary measures. Manages staff and has responsibility for hiring, firing and performance management, as well as overall results of the assigned area. Directs staff in work processes. Directs training of staff in work processes and competencies. Responsible for a staff of up to 15 persons.
Formulates business problem solutions via technology and/or business process change. Facilitates customer system issue resolution by clarifying the issue and allocating appropriate resources to effectively and efficiently bring the issue to closure. Participates in disaster recovery strategy planning.
Using effectively constructed metrics, the incumbent monitors and reviews status reporting on projects, service requests, issues and problems with appropriate quality assurance. Brings issues to closure and prevents future issues by planning for continuous operational improvements based on effective assessment of these reports.
Possible periods of stress/visual fatigue due to CRT usage and tight production/operations deadlines. Works in normal office environment where there is little discomfort to extremes of dust, noise, temperature and the like or works remotely at location of choice within the continental United States.
