Position Summary:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of clerical duties to support the daily operations of the surgery center. Completes surgical and procedural postings in the EMR. Receives and relays information perti­nent to patient care, Assists with front desk, OR desk, PACU desk, and patient registration duties as assigned.


Days, Full Time (40 hours)

8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., M-F

A. Education:

- High school diploma or educational equivalent.

- Demonstrates appropriate reading levels for forms and requisitions, OR schedule and basic instructions.

- Must be able to type forms and correspondence accurately and efficiently.

B. Knowledge:

- Work requires knowledge of procedures and policies adhered to by the JHSCS along with the ability to coordinate scheduling information of the O.R. as acquired during 6-12 months of related experience.

- Knowledge of computer keyboard functions and demonstrated ability to utilize mainframe and PC programs.

- Knowledge of medical terminology.

- Requires analytical ability necessary to handle routine, non-complex administrative details.

- Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously and to exchange and relay information with diverse group of internal and external calls and visitors.

C. Skills:

- Ability to perform as part of the team and to maintain individual accountability.

- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and demonstrate initiative.

- Ability to utilize universal safety precautions.

- Ability to demonstrate professional phone etiquette and the ability to document clearly and legibly.

- Ability to identify an emergency situation and to follow established protocol in reporting the emergency.

Six months of experience in reception type activities is required.
