Position’s roles & interactions: This position will directly interact will administrative and clinical staff to resolve IT issues. They will also assist the customers with any IT purchases, planning, and project needs. They will receive Help Desk tickets and Service requests. They will be expected to resolve those within our standard Service Level agreements. Job performance will be evaluated on their ability to meet those SLAs. They will participate in internal IT meetings. They will be assigned as a primary support for several departments as well as participate as part of a team. They will be expected to assist other LAN Admins as needed and provide backup coverage.
Specific devices, software, projects for which the position is responsible:
Windows and Mac desktop, laptop, and tablet systems. Their ability to connect, run applications, and connect to the network. Complex troubleshooting OS issues as they interact with applications, network and the internet.
Describe scale/size of area, project and/or system supported: This position will support varying numbers of users/computers at a Tier 3 level. These systems are located within office and clinical space at the East Baltimore campus. On a rare occasion, there may be some remote site assistance required. This person will interact with all aspects of the IT@ Johns Hopkins teams. These teams include Networking, Device Support, DHCP, DNS, AD, Exchange, EDE, etc.
Required & preferred skills specific to position: Windows and Mac OS and application troubleshooting. Excellent communication and customer service skills and highly collaborative approach with other IT team members is essential. Ability to identify, isolate and repair desktop problems and quickly develop plan of corrective actions is essential. Strong knowledge of PC repair and application and operating system software installation is required. Working knowledge of basic network connectivity concepts for both wired and wireless environments is required.
Work location: 600 Wolfe Street, East Baltimore, Maryland
On call requirements (if applicable): After probationary period, an on-call rotation is expected every 10-12 weeks.
Required Education: Two years college course work. Additional experience can be substituted for education.
Required Experience: Two years related experience. Additional education can be substituted for experience.
Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits or 18 graduate degree credits = 1 year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college coursework may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
