Position Summary:

The LAN Administrator position is a desktop support role. The LAN Administrator performs routine PC Set up; installation of peripheral equipment, software installation, support for software products and services, deployment of service packs, hot fixes, system updates, testing changes to the environment. Assistance with departmental specific applications and interaction with vendor application installations. Strong liaison with customers and departments. Involved with the analysis of user needs in the computing device environment (e.g., desktop, mobile devices, etc.) and recommendations for products and services that meet those needs. Responsible for delivery, moving and installing computing devices and related software as well as device inventory. Must have experience in a Windows/MAC environment.

Prioritizes and performs work independently. Participates in segments of large projects and leads small projects. Device management complexity is typically at an advanced level. Demonstrate strong ability in technology and/or strong understanding of the business/clinical/education/research process and workflow. Work with clients and peers to define and determine needs and suggest solutions to requirements. Build and maintain relationships through positive interactions. Demonstrates ability to provide good customer service. Provides guidance and training to lower level employees. Tasks are complex (i.e., working with multiple types of devices, or integrated software over multiple devices, or software that affects a large number of customers).

Required knowledge / skillset:

  • Apple Hardware Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
  • macOS installation, configuration, and management
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • VMware Workspace One
  • Time Management
  • Ability to create detailed documentation

Preferred knowledge / skillset:

  • Apple School Manager
  • ServiceNow

Education:

Two years college course work. Additional experience can be substituted for education.

Required Work Experience:

Five years related experience. Additional education can be substituted for experience.
