Under the clinical direction of the physician, the medical assistant in the ambulatory practice functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary health care team in providing the highest quality of care to the patient. Assists in scheduling activities of medical assistants and with monitoring compliance with department policies and procedures.

Day Shift

40 hours per week

8 a.m - 5 p.m.

Work Location: Eldersburg

Minimum Requirements: High School degree or GED equivalent required. Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Training Program and/or successful completion of the Medical Assistant Certification Exam. Five or more years of specific applicable primary medical care MA experience may be substituted for formal training providing eligibility for Medical Assistant certification exam. Medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, infection control, diagnostic testing and specimen collection procedures knowledge is required. Must have effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Effective time management and organizational skills. Ability to learn and use a computer based patient appointment scheduling and registration system in addition to an electronic medical record system.

Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.: Certified Medical Assistant required or successful completion of the CMA, RMA, NCMA or NRCMA, Medical Assistant Certification exam within 3 months of hire. Valid CPR certification required upon hire. Recertification required every two years.

Three years' experience in a medical practice setting is preferred.
