Looking for NEW GRAD RN for the February or March 2020 Adult ICU Cohorts

Our Weinberg Intensive Care Unit (WICU) is an acute 16 bed adult surgical critical care unit. Nurses will care for patients who have undergone general and specialty surgical procedures. The primary procedures are: ENT, GI, Whipple, Thoracic, GYN oncology, Ortho/Neuro Spine, Trauma, and general requiring critical care. Our unit is grounded in teamwork as well as Patient and Family Centered Care. Our unit has won the AACN Beacon Award and also recognized by the SCCM for the Family Centered Care Innovation Award.

A New Grad RN will have a comprehensive 5-6 month orientation. New graduate nurses will also benefit from participating in an Adult ICU cohort with competency based critical care curriculum incorporating Johns Hopkins Nursing values and best practices.

Candidate qualifications for a Registered Nurse 1 position:

  • No RN work experience required
  • Bachelors or Masters degree, in nursing from an accredited School of Nursing, strongly preferred.
  • Applicants with an Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited School of Nursing will be considered; provided they are either currently, or will shortly be enrolled in an accredited RN to BSN program. See note below *
  • An active Maryland State or Compact RN license is required
  • BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted
  • New graduates are expected to have completed or be enrolled in an Adult ICU practicum with a minimum of 120 hours of clinical time per our ICU guidelines.
  • The Emergency Department is not considered equivalent experience.

*Per JHH Nursing Policy: If you do not currently possess a BSN or MSN degree, by accepting an offer of employment, you certify your understanding of the following: (a) the requirement to provide proof of enrollment into a BSN or MSN degree program to your hiring manager within your one year of hire date; (b) you must provide documentation of completion of at least 9 credits in 12 months until BSN or MSN degree is complete; and (c) you must provide documentation of completion of the BSN or MSN degree program within five years of hire date.
