All new graduate nurses are automatically enrolled in the yearlong Adult or Pediatric Nurse Residency Program (NRP) to facilitate the successful transition to professional nursing practice.

The Hospitalist unit is an adult telemetry medicine unit that works in collaboration with a team of nurses, physicians, physician assistants, pharmacists, social workers, case managers, physical therapists, nutritionists, home care coordinators, and other adjunct support services. The interdisciplinary team strives for an exceptional patient experience by working together to provide quality patient care. The physician team who care for the patients are at the attending level and have their offices on the unit (also known as the "Hospitalists"). The nursing staff are supportive of each other and nurturing to our new nurses and students. The goal of the Hospitalist team is to provide patients with the best possible medical care with world class resources available at Johns Hopkins Medicine.


Candidate qualifications for the Registered Nurse 1 position on Meyer 8:

  1. Associate Degree candidates* from an accredited nursing program will be considered; provided they are either currently, or will be enrolled in an accredited RN to BSN program.
  2. Bachelor’s or Master's Degree from an accredited nursing program preferred.
  3. Maintain active RN licensure in the state of Maryland
  4. No RN work experience required

*Per JHH Nursing Policy: If you do not currently possess a BSN or MSN degree, by accepting this offer of employment, you certify your understanding of the following: (a) you must provide proof of BSN or MSN degree program acceptance to your hiring manager within your first year of hire; (B) you must complete the BSN or MSN degree program no later than five years from program enrollment; and (c) you must make steady progress toward completing the program by taking a minimum of nine credits within 12 months of initial enrollment and each year thereafter.

The Registered Nurse 1 on Meyer 8 is responsible for:

-Coordinating care for assigned patients to promote the achievement of clinical outcomes.

-Providing evidence-based patient care based on the JHH nursing process, policy, procedures.

-Participating and promoting departmental and hospital safety standards.

-Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with a multidisciplinary health care team

-Ability to analyze data and make judgments regarding optimal patient care.

-Practicing responsible cost-effective use of resources.
