GENERAL SUMMARY: The Critical Care Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) with specialized skills responsible for the care and treatment of complex, critically ill patients. Responsibilities include initial and subsequent evaluation and management of critically ill patients in the Hospital and Emergency Department setting and performance of bedside procedures on critically ill patients. In addition, the Critical Care Nurse Practitioner communicates the plan of care with patients and their family members.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  1. Minimum 1-year experience as ICU nurse or Nurse Practitioner.
  2. Master of Science in Nursing.
  3. Board Certification as Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
  4. Maintain unrestricted medical License in the District of Columbia.
  5. Maintain Controlled and Dangerous Substance License in the District of Columbia.
  6. Maintain Federal DEA License.
  7. Maintain ACLS certification.
  8. Maintain BLS certification.
