The Nurse Practitioner for the Johns Hopkins Hospital Gynecological-Oncology Unit works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team and is responsible for providing comprehensive and age appropriate care to both well and/or ill patients.
Education & Experience: Masters prepared from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program in area of specialty with a certification in Women’s Health. Current registered nurse licensure in the State of Maryland. Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the State of Maryland. Three years of related clinical nursing experience required. OB/GYN specialty preferred. This position is entitled Nurse Practitioner Associate until candidate is fully credentialed. If you order or refer items or services for Medicare beneficiaries and you do not have an enrollment record in the Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System(PECOS), you will need to submit an enrollment application to Medicare to be eligible for employment.
Knowledge and skills: Advanced clinical skills in specialty area or equivalent. Advanced research knowledge, including interpretation, utilization, and conduct. Ability to incorporate into practice theoretical concepts and advanced clinical skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary health care team members. Analytical ability necessary to diagnose patients and to develop and implement plans of action for long and short term management of health. Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary health care team to enhance collaboration and problem-solving.
Job Details: The Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team and is responsible for providing comprehensive care to our patients. Primary responsibilities include educating patients, providing on-going support and follow-up for our patients, and coordinating care across multiple internal and external providers. The Nurse Practitioner practices within the guidelines of Johns Hopkins institution and in accordance with the Nurse Practitioner-Physician Written Agreement required and approved by the state of Maryland. The Nurse Practitioner is granted affiliate staff privileges by the Johns Hopkins Hospital Medical Board; these privileges list specific tasks and are reviewed annually. #LI-MS1
