<span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">GENERAL SUMMARY<span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">:<span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";"> The Imaging Services Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team and is responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive care to both well and ill patients in the in-patient and out-patient setting. Intervenes in acute and/or chronic illness and coordinates care between in-patient and out-patient services at Sibley Memorial Hospital and other medical facilities. Works with a multitude of specialists and providers on behalf of Imaging Services, serving as the clinical resource for patients. Monitors quality of Imaging Services procedural care across the in-patient-out-patient continuum. Obtains appropriate histories, performs physical examinations, orders diagnostic testing, develops care and treatment plans, and assists the attending radiologists in performing procedures in the Imaging department. Other activities are in support of patient/family education, staff education, unit activities, and psychosocial care of patients and families.

<span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED<span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">:

<span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">

<span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">1.<span style="font: 7pt/normal "Times New Roman"; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;"> <span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">Licensed to practice as Nurse Practitioner in Adult or Family Health in the District of Columbia.

<span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">2.<span style="font: 7pt/normal "Times New Roman"; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;"> <span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">Master’s degree in Nursing from an AANP or ANCC accredited school.

<span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">3.<span style="font: 7pt/normal "Times New Roman"; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;"> <span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in acute/ critical care, preferably in an Imaging Department.

<span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">4.<span style="font: 7pt/normal "Times New Roman"; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;"> <span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">Currently certified as a Nurse Practitioner by national credentialing institution and commitment to maintain certification as required.

<span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">5.<span style="font: 7pt/normal "Times New Roman"; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;"> <span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">Prescribes medications including oral, parenteral, intramuscular, or subcutaneous drugs.

<span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">6.<span style="font: 7pt/normal "Times New Roman"; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;"> <span style="font-family: "Arial", "sans-serif";">Prescribes controlled medications within the District of Columbia’s advanced practice nurse scope of practice and per Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) guidelines.
