As an Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Occupational Health Services (OHS) you will provide services for employees and volunteers with the goal of promoting health, safety, and regulatory compliance under the clinical supervision of the Occupational Health and Safety Manager.

Shifts: Temporary - 24 hours/week; 8 hour days; no weekends

Qualifications:

  • Completion of MSN/DNP program
  • Active DC RN license and DC NP certification
  • Active Healthcare provider CPR certification
  • NP work experience; OHS / Urgent care work experience highly preferred
  • PECOS, CDS, DEA

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures, use of equipment, and Hospital and departmental policies necessary for job performance.
  2. Assists in performing new hire/pre-employment physicals.
  3. Schedules annual physicals, sick visits, and other Occupational Health & Safety related activities as appropriate.
  4. Participates in employee "wellness" or other prevention programs.
  5. Maintains required records and reports statistics. Tracks annual physical/new hire compliance and informs administration of updated statistics.
  6. Triages employees with episodic illnesses and/or occupational injuries and reports information to the Nurse Practitioner.
  7. Performs pre-employment and for cause drug screens. Reports to Nurse Practitioner when individuals have positive results.
  8. Provides medical determination of exposures as well as tracking and follow-up care. Refers employees who meet criteria for post exposure prophylaxis to Nurse Practitioner
  9. Informs injured employee regarding the workers’ compensation process and coordinates their care in conjunction with Human Resources and Johns Hopkins Workers’ Compensation.
  10. Identifies actual or potential health and safety hazards through interaction with management, Environment of Care Committee, and Infection Control Committee.
  11. Monitors laboratory and radiology reports on the day they are received. Reports major abnormalities as soon as possible to Nurse Practitioner. Per Nurse Practitioner instructions, sends referral letters to employees.
  12. Prepares referral letters to appropriate consultants to address any concerns regarding job limitations, restrictions, reasonable accommodations, etc.
  13. Interacts with outside agencies regarding the care of employees.
  14. Attends hospital wide committees as required (e.g., Infection Control, EOC, etc.). Participates on teams as assigned.
  15. Provides education and in-services as necessary.
  16. Assists with mandatory influenza immunization program for all Sibley providers, employees, volunteers, and contractors.
  17. Completes required training and utilizes electronic medical records (Epic) for Occupational Health & Safety.
