Position Summary:

The Johns Hopkins Hospital Division of The Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary health team, responsible for providing comprehensive obstetric care to patients in the inpatient setting.

The inpatient role will include managing antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients. The provider will order and interpret tests, diagnose, treat and counsel patients. The provider will be responsible for referring complex or complicated patients to other physician providers as needed.

The provider will establish medical diagnoses, order, perform and evaluate diagnostic studies (such as labs and imaging), perform therapeutic procedures, and provide appropriate treatment and follow-up as indicated. Performs physical examinations, including obstetric and pelvic exams, microscopy, screening for sexually transmitted infections, vaginitis and bacterial vaginosis, and performing bedside ultrasounds. The provider with interpret fetal heart tracings and will document information as needed, including but not limited to history of present illness and physicals, assessment and plan, differential diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. The provider will prescribe and regulate medications per written agreement.

The provider will assume responsibility and accountability for time management, professional relationships and interpersonal interactions. Develops, conducts, and/or evaluates formal or informal in-service and continuing education programs in areas of expertise for peer groups and other disciplines. Assumes responsibility for his/her own professional development and remains current in clinical practice by attending relevant continuing education. Participates on department, functional unit, and Hospital committees, as assigned. Participates in the development and implementation of quality assurance program. Adheres to Hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in nursing; Registered Nurse license and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner. Must

be licensed as NP in State of Maryland or other state where practicing. Current American Heart CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment. Completion of the JHH credentialing process is required prior to start date.

•MSN/DNP from an accredited nursing program required.

•Active Maryland or Compact RN and CRNP license are required

•Current certifications as an Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland or letter from MBON approving practice as a Nurse Practitioner Graduate while awaiting completing of JHH affiliate credentialing as a Nurse Practitioner.

•BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted

•The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of acute care RN work experience

•RN work experience in Women's Health is preferred.
