Position Summary

This position manages operational and financial activities of the Bayview Department of Oncology, as well as provides daily supervision to the administrative support staff. This position will also provide oversight to the SKCCC at JHBMC and the JHBMC Breast Center. This position reports directly to the Assistant Administrator, Solid Tumor and Bayview Oncology to ensure the efficient and coordinated functioning of the Cancer Program on the JHBMC campus.

This role encompasses the management of the business practice of the Cancer Center and the Breast Center. The position works collaboratively with physicians, clinical departments, nursing, management, faculty, and other stakeholders to ensure: timely patient access to care, operational efficiency, practice productivity, fiscal integrity, and patient satisfaction. In this capacity, the Oncology Operations Manager will oversee the access for patients and the thoracic MDC in the Cancer Center and the Breast Center and will also have direct responsibility for the management of the front desk operations and staff, room utilization and efficient flow of patients in the Cancer Center and the Breast Center. The position will also be responsible for development of the annual volume budgets. The Oncology Operations Manager will support the nurse manager in the Cancer Center to determine the optimal staffing and chair utilization for the infusion center. The nurse manager will oversee the nursing practice and the clinical practice of the PCTs and will be responsible for patient safety within the Cancer Center and the interaction with pharmacy. The revenue management for the clinic in the Cancer Center and the Breast Center will be the responsibility of the Oncology Operations Manager and the nurse manager will continue to oversee revenue management for the infusion area in partnership with the assistant administrator while the clinical operations of the Mammography area will be managed by Radiology. The Oncology Operations Manager will develop meaningful goals and objectives relating to budgets, volumes, customer service, etc.; follow up to ensure compliance with all institutional goals and objectives, as well as adherence to all state/federal standards (ex: Joint Commission).

Primary responsibilities include: human resources management, practice business development, daily operational efficiency and effectiveness, and regulatory compliance. Ensures the effective and safe nursing services to meet established Medical Center and accrediting agency regulations and guidelines. All responsibilities are fulfilled consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, the Department of Oncology, and the Department of Ambulatory Services.

Education & Experience

Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in health care administration, business management, medical technology, or other closely related field and three years management experience with at least one in an outpatient setting preferred. Combination of education and experience will be considered.
