JOB SUMMARY

Provides direct patient care, pulmonary care and respiratory equipment management in the home care setting to patients of the JHHCG in accordance with JCAHO, state and departmental standards. Provides care to adults of all ages, children and infants. This position provides more in-depth clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills to manage complex patients, able to guide and precept new and existing staff as the subject matter expert on equipment management and education to ensure service excellence. This position has the ability to communicate and provide education effectively with physicians, referral sources, patients/caregivers and all members of the healthcare team. Precepts, monitors and provide supervision and sign-off on equipment management and respiratory modalities in home setting per our P&P to new staff ensuring all competencies sign of during the first 90 Days of employment. Reports to the Senior R.T. regarding staff performance, productivity, documentation and patient care issues.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

AA or BS in Respiratory Therapy required

Three (3) years minimum clinical Respiratory experience in a hospital or home care setting

Registration by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Technician required

Must be licensed by the Maryland State Board of Physician Quality Assurance.

CPR

Current, valid Maryland Driver’s License, preferably with no points.

Valid auto insurance

Work requires the level of knowledge typically acquired through completion of two years of respiratory specific education or an Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy or a closely related field and six to twelve months of previous experience.
