Johns Hopkins Home Care Group is seeking a Pharmacy Technician with IV/ Infusion experience for a temporary assignment at their location in Baltimore.    

Under the direct supervision of the Production Manager or the Senior Director of Pharmaquip, the Pharmacy Tech prepares IV admixture solutions accurately, with the highest quality possible, and in a timely manner for clients.  The Pharmacy Tech also participates in any other duties related to the dispensing of medications for which the job may require.   Reports to the Production Manager.  

Shifts in need are 7-3:30, 8-4:30, 9-5:30, and 10-6:30.  Weekend obligation is currently every 7th weekend 8:30-5.

Must have Md license & national certification (PTCB)  

Requirements:

Prepares IV admixtures as required.  

Follows techniques and policies to ensure quality of products and personal safety. 

Cleans equipment and work area to maintain an aseptic work environment.  

Maintains the necessary supplies for the amount of compounding work scheduled for the day.  

Removes trash and cleans preparation room according to the policies and procedures.  

Unpacks and stocks supplies in the appropriate storage areas; restocks drug cart daily. 

Relieves pharmacy inventory for the computer once medications have been delivered to patients.  

Qualifications:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an external pharmacy technician training program is desirable.

Maryland Pharmacy Tech license is required.   PTCB required.    

Six (6) months experience in the last three years as a home infusion or hospital technician required.

Working knowledge of pharmaceutical mathematics
Knowledge of sterile technique and demonstrates aseptic technique proficiency
Knowledge of infusion nomenclature
Knowledge for the safety guidelines for handling chemotherapy
Familiar with equipment and supplies used in home infusion

Ability to calibrate and use equipment to make IV and nutrition solutions
Ability to work with computers for data entry and manipulation
Ability to change from one work project to another quickly as required by the workload
Ability to do high volume of work with few or no errors
Ability to keep good records for all work performed
Works well in isolation on tasks requiring patience and thoroughness
Strong attention to detail, follows protocols or procedures precisely
Works within the limits of technical practice; practices self supervision and is a self-starter
Practices teamwork both within the pharmacy department and with the internal customs of JHHCG
