As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) on our team, you'll play a crucial role in providing coverage for approximately 20-25 adult cardiac surgery patients in the Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU). This 32-bed unit caters to a diverse range of cardiac surgery cases, including coronary artery bypass, valve repairs and replacements, aortic dissections, heart and lung transplants, and mechanical circulatory support devices such as Heartmate and Heartware.

In this position, you'll oversee patients across three levels of care: floor, telemetry, and intermediate. Your responsibilities will include managing CVPCU inpatients, handling admissions from the ICU and ED, coordinating outside hospital transfers, conducting in-hospital consults, and triaging outpatient calls. You'll have the support of Cardiac Surgery Fellows and intensivists from the Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit.

This is a full-time role, comprising 40 hours per week with 12-hour rotating shifts. Some weekends and holidays are required, but you'll receive a incentive rate for your commitment.

To qualify for this role, you must have completed an

  • Approved Physician Assistance Program and hold licensure from the MD Board of Physicians.
  • Possess CDS and DEA licensure,
  • Board certified or certification eligible by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • BLS Health Care Provider CPR certification is also required.
  • Ideally, candidates will have at least one year of PA work experience with inpatient cardiac surgery patients.
  • Enrollment in the Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS) is also necessary.
