The Physician Assistant (PA) for the Combined Internal Medicine Services (CIMS), is an independent professional health care provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to acutely ill general medicine inpatients and emergency department observation patients. The PA is also responsible for performing admission history & physicals, place orders, review lab/test results, formulate treatment plans, discharge summaries, procedures for the general medicine service, screening observation patients, TPN consults for the hospital, rotates through nights and weekend nights, and attends at least one divisional meeting a month.

Shifts: Full Time (40 hours); 8 and 12 hour rotating shifts


  • Completion of a Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in a Physician Assistant Program
  • Licensure: Current Maryland licensure as a Physician Assistant, along with CDS (prescription) and DEA (narcotics) licensure
  • Current BLS CPR - Healthcare provider and ACLS certification (AHA or Red Cross accepted)
  • Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS) enrollment required for Medicare ordering purposes
  • Work Experience: At least 1 years of hospital PA work experience. Candidate must have the ability to work independently in managing the clinical, consult, and procedural services.
