Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Neurosurgery Physician Assistant (PA) primarily supports the neurosurgery inpatient services for brain tumor, spine, interventional radiology and cerebral vascular by performing patient- oriented tasks such as taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, ordering laboratory tests, making tentative diagnoses and prescribing appropriate treatments. The PA will manage ICP, suture/staple removal, wound care, removing drains, and assisting attending surgeons with inpatient procedures such as EVD placement and shunt taps. The PA will work closely with the multidisciplinary team arranging for patient discharges. The PA position is also responsible for covering the outpatient clinic (1 day per week), as well as ED/Rehab consults for tumors and traumatic injuries.

The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (JHBMC) is an academic hospital, level 2 trauma center, and JCAHO certified stroke and spine center.

Full-time 40 hours per week; 8-hour days; no weekends (after completion of orientation will switch to four 10-hour rotating day shifts) (6 am-4:30 pm, 8 am-4:30 pm, and 10 am - 6:30 pm)

MInimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Completion of a Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in a Physician Assistant Program; Master’s preferred
  • LIcensure: Current Maryland Physician Assistant license along with Maryland CDS (prescription) and DEA (narcotics) licensure required
  • Current BLS Healthcare provider
  • Experience: 2 years of Neuro work experience preferred; will consider new graduate PA
  • Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS) enrollment required
