POSITION SUMMARY:
The Polysomnographic Technologist Trainee’s purpose is to learn and provide quality sleep medicine care to our patients, including routine and complex procedures, using a wide variety of techniques and equipment with the goal of obtaining board certification in Polysomnographic technology. This position will operate under the direct supervision of a registered polysomnographic technologist.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Assesses patients’ clinical status, evaluates progress toward goals, and recommends courses of action to provide quality sleep studies and CPAP operation under the supervision of a registered polysomnographic technologist.
2. Analyzes critical situations and applies appropriate judgement and critical thinking for problem resolution to care for patient quickly and safety.
3. Accurately and reliably interprets and communicates patient results to facilitate patient care plan.
4. Interacts with and explains therapeutic modalities to patients, families and the interdisciplinary team in an understandable manner based on learning styles and individual diversity to provide patient centered care.
5. Troubleshoots equipment issues and seeks assistance as necessary to maintain clinic operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of a High School diploma, GED, Certificate of Completion or equivalent achievement
• Ability to successfully complete an accredited polysomnographic training program and obtain the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential within one year of hire
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or successful completion of the course within one month of hire
