POSITION SUMMARY:

Work requires completion of an AMA approved program in Radiolog¬ic Technology or equivalent, which normally is acquired in a two-year college or technical school program. Registered or registry eligible. Must be licensed by State of Maryland Board of Physicians Quality Assurance as a Medical Radiation Technologist.

Some analytical skill required for determining technical factors such as voltage, current and exposure times; checking equipment to ensure proper functioning; and analyzing equipment manuals for correct equipment operating procedures.

Basic interpersonal skills required to instruct patients about procedures being performed. Additionally must be able to assist in the instruction of rotating radiology students and assist lower classified Radiologic Technicians in performing more complex procedures.

Manual dexterity required for adjusting machine controls, dials or other supportive devices. Required to lift and position patients and equipment approximately 60% of time.

Full-time, Day Shift

8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

COMPETENCIES:

Education:

Work requires completion of an AMA approved program in Radiolog­ic Technology or equivalent, which normally is acquired in a two-year college or technical school program. Registered or registry eligible. Must be licensed by State of Maryland Board of Physicians Quality Assurance as a Medical Radiation Technologist.

Required Licensure, Certification, etc.:

Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

(ARRT), or registry eligible, and a Maryland State Licensure for Medical Radiation Technologist; CPR Certification needed.

Work Experience:

Preferred 3-6 months of diagnostic radiology experience.

Knowledge:

Requires skill in performing radiologic examinations, both routine and semi‑complex. This required level of skill would be acquired during three to six months of related experience.

Skills:

Working Conditions:

-Works in X‑ray examination rooms, and at patient bedside in conducting examinations.

-Potential hazard due to radiation and or high magnetic field.

-Possible exposure to communicable disease and hazardous materials with little likelihood of

harm, if established health and safety precautions are followed.

-Heavy lifting and pushing or puling portable radiology equipment will be required.
