Nelson 3 is a 23-bed general medical unit with 12 telemetry beds. We care for a variety of complex medical patients with acute gastrointestinal, cardiac, renal, hepatic, endocrine, sickle cell, hematological and respiratory disorders. We use a multidisciplinary approach to care, utilizing physicians, case managers, homecare, pharmacy, PT/OT, and social work to provide quality and safe care while supporting the patient and their family.

New graduate nurses are automatically enrolled in the yearlong Adult or Pediatric Nurse Residency Program (NRP) to facilitate the successful transition to professional nursing practice.

Candidate qualifications for the Registered Nurse 1 position on Nelson 3:

  1. Associate Degree candidates* from an accredited nursing program will be considered; provided they are either currently, or will be enrolled in an accredited RN to BSN program.
  2. Bachelor’s or Master's Degree from an accredited nursing program preferred.
  3. Active RN licensure in the state of Maryland
  4. No RN work experience required

*If you do not currently possess a BSN or MSN degree, by accepting this offer of employment, you certify your understanding of the following: (a) you must provide proof of BSN or MSN degree program acceptance to your hiring manager within your first year of hire; (B) you must complete the BSN or MSN degree program no later than five years from program enrollment; and (c) you must make steady progress toward completing the program by taking a minimum of nine credits within 12 months of initial enrollment and each year thereafter. These requirements are not a contract for continued employment, and they do not entitle you to any tuition or other benefits. Benefits are available to you as described above. If you fail to adhere to our education requirements, employment may be terminated.
